Bai Chunyan specializes in facial thread lifting, a non-surgical lifting technique that places special threads in the skin to pull up skin that has sagged and become lax due to gravity. The special threads used in the procedure are serrated “barbed” threads with barbs directed from the periphery toward the center. Because of these barbs, the threads maintain the lifting effect even when the hand lifting the skin is released. It is particularly effective for muscle sagging and laxity caused by frequent smiling, and wrinkles also become less visible. The threads are passed through a needle, and a special needle is used to pass them through the subcutaneous tissue beneath the scalp and the facial skin to achieve a lifting effect; the procedure is completed in a short time with a small amount of local anesthesia.
